ATT hams: radio mounting

SPAM relief!

OK - thinking of getting a second wireless phone. Wife's got ATT (digital one rate) and it's OK, but the phone itself really sucks. Considering ATT, Verizon and Cingular for a nationwide plan. Who's using these guys and what kind of coverage have you been able to get in areas outside the major population centers and highway corridors?

Also interested in any phone unit plusses and minuses you have. I've read good reviews on the Motorola V60 series, so I'm leaning towards that phone.

Thanks.

I like Verizon. In fact, I'm using it now to connect to the internet from our hotel in Tucson. We use it when camping too. There are so many phones out there, and theyh change so often, you're on your own there.

Verizon has a nation-wide plan that works anywhere on their system for just a few bucks more than a local plan.

Joel,,I am a truck driver that travels to the west coast weekly and I myself have switched to Cingular's one rate plan,,I had ATT One rate and was disgusted with their constant billing issues and poor service running across the desert(either I-40 or I-10),,Cingular has much better coverage in the areas where I run at and has better digital coverage than ATT,,We(my partner and I) run these phones side by side(he is a ATT customer) and my phone will carry a digital tower longer than his will,,For example, from OKC,OK west to San Jon,NM mine will hold a Cingular signal with full capabilities, but, his(ATT) goes to analog about Erik,OK and stays that way all the way to Albuquerque,NM where it goes digital for a short time in the city area,,From San Jon,NM mine is analog but stays with a full bar of signal all the way to Albuquerque,NM,where it also goes to digital for a period, then back analog at full strength all the way west to the Flag,,Ultimately its your choice, but,I have been across this country way too many times with different provider and NONE have given me the service that Cingular does,,Hope this helps and if you have any other questions do not hesitate to drop me a note..... Andy

P. S. -These comparisons were done with Nokia 5165's,both of us,,I have now switched to the Motorola series but since I'm on vacation I have not run it out west yet... .....

I have Cingular too because about 3 weeks ago I finally had a sitution where I needed a cell phone. I have had enough of these latly to convince me to get one. I can not yet fairly commit on the service, but rather the phone.

I have the V60 and it is a nice phone. Very small, almost too small, but very nice. I do not think that it could take abuse very well though.

My girlfriend has the Ericson "free" phone that Cingular offered me, and let me tell you what. That phone can take ANY abuse you throw at it, trust me. She has had it for 2 years now, and it shows it. It has been droped more times then you can count to, splashed with water, and sat in her glovebox to bakeing for over 3 months stright durning last summer when she tried a different phone. If I has not so inclinded to have a pager sized phone, you can bet that this is the phone I would have gotten.

If you want to know which series phone it is, I can get you the model number.

Andrew

Cingular

Cingular has a 50 state no roaming national plan. I just switched to it. If you get a signal, you get the plan minutes with no roaming ever. There are very few exceptions to these rules. I switched a friend from Verizon. When they asked whom she was going with she said Cingular. The sales pitches stopped dead!!

Verizons map looks like a map of Minnesota, More roam areas than I could count, and it was a nationwide plan too.
