I am wiring some off road lights and want to have them activate when the highbeams come on. What color wire am I looking for and where is an easy place to access it to run a wire to my switch? I'm sure I could find it but I was hoping for a quick answer rather than spending a few hours under the hood. Its 105 out today. Thanks in advance!

That is how I did mine. Under the hood left head light there are three wires. On the plug it is marked A,B,C, A is power,B is low beam control ,C is high beam control. D/C turns lights on/off with there grounds. The C wire should be RD/OR, connect the ground wire from your driving light relay to this wire. The relay + connector to power. The relay should turn your driving lights on with the high beams now. provided you have run power through the relay to the driving lights:) :D :D :D ;)

Just a word of caution. I'm 99% sure that DC didn't go to a switched ground until the '99 model year. FFSchooley, since your truck is a '98. 5, I think it should still be a positive switched system.

I would put in a 3-way switch so you can turn the driving lights off or even set it up so you can run either or both. Be sure to run them off a relay so as not to load your already weak wiring.

Does anyone know how this would work if you are running a Brite Box? I would like to have my driving lights come on with the high beams but how would my Brite Box effect this? I have aftermarket driving lights not OEM.

Hunter11,

On my model year 2000 Ram I'm running the BriteBox, PIAA 60XT driving lamps powered by a relay that uses the switched ground on the high beams, and OEM fog lights that work with both low and high beams. When I switch to high beams they're all lit. Thirty plus months with this setup and no problems.
