Wiring for gauges in a 06?

Those of you who have put gauges in your '06s where did you run the wires for the 12v switched circuit? The instructions say to the key switch, but is there an easier alternative? And where did you run the wiring for the gauge lights to? I know the gauge lights wire should go to the trucks light switch but which color wire do you tap it into? Pictures would be appriciated.

It's not in front of me right now. The latest TDR in the back had a gauge install on an 06'. The colors they mentioned were an exact match for my gauge install.
