While troubleshooting my back-up lights, I discovered that the plug on the wiring harness that connects to the back-up light switch is distorted from heat damage. Guess the hotter bulbs have taken their toll. Does anyone know if this plug is available separately?

You didn't happen to have 50W Halogens in there?

Cause I been thinking about putting them in.

Do you do alot of backing, sounds dumb but got to ask ?

They are available but you will have to find a parts counterman that is a little clever.

You should also use a relay to run more than stock electrical loads anywhere on the truck.

Yes, I put the 50 watt halogens in several years ago to give better visibility while plowing snow.

I took the easy way to get brighter back-up lights. Guess it's time to pay the piper. Thanks Bob.

I was told today that the only way the plug is available is with a complete wiring harness. If anyone knows differently, I'm all ears.

I don't back that much with this truck ,but what good idea for the plow truck.

I personally would head for the junk yard in your dilemma.

thanks

You most likely have the same 3 way conector that has been used since the 60's. I have replaced them on a few diesels that had high amp b-u lights added w/out relays. My parts guy since moved on to greener pastures had the factory part # in his head. There are a lot of those very standard pig-tails available at the better parts houses. Napa is the first that comes to mind, but again you will have to deal with a parts guy that knows what he is doing.

I went to NAPA and they have a connector listed that should fit. It's being shipped from one of the warehouses. When it gets here and I'm sure it fits, I'll post the part #.

Thanks for the help!

Lynn

NAPA came through with the parts!

Neutral/safety switch #NS6514

Wiring harness connector and pigtail #EC187

Bob, your advice was dead on. Thanks for the help.
