Are there any vendors out there that sell aftermarket or stock replacement wiring harnesses for our 12v's? I am interesting in buying some new harnesses during my cylinder head swap project to replace my original, pretty chewed up ones. Basically, I guess it would be just the harness going to the alternator, fuel shutdown solenoid and the one across the fire wall going to the PCM(I think that's what it is) on the passenger side over to the fuse box on the driver side. Obviously the stealership is not an option due to their "ankle grabbing" price, but there has to be some vendor out there that could either make me a harness or has one set-up to replace the OEM harness.

Thanks for any info! :)

Might check with a company called Peerless. I don't have a web site address for the company but if you do a forum search you should be able to find a reference.

I think finding a vendor that makes up wiring harnesses will be pretty difficult. I have seen ads in the classifieds a time or two by folks that have one for sale. I would try some wrecking yards.

The problem is that they are probably different depending on whether the truck is standard or auto transmisssion. They also differ between year models.

I hear ya, it sounds like I will either have to make my own, use what I got for a little while or luck will come up and I'll find a decent one for cheap. I'll keep looking and if anyone has any info, let me know. :)

Thanks, Joe

Making your owns causes you to have something built way better than these aftermarket comanies! :-D
I replaced my sons 72 Nova wiring harness with one from www.painlesswiring.com. Got it from www.summitracing.com for about $500.

It had all the wiring prewired into a new circuit breaker/fuse. They added stuff the old did not have (like electric fan & choke) so it was better than the old set. A new old set would have cost me 3 times the price. Removed the old fuse box and replaced with the new one, all pre-wired. Just had to remove the old wiring and run the new.

All the wires were color coded and identified where they went (like "Dome Light") every 6 inches and came with schematics. It wasn't painless to install but it worked and had good instructions. Don't know if they make one for the Dodge.

Painless does not make a plug-in harness for a Cummins :-laf :-laf

Well, do you have any suggestions for me on any options other than a factory replacement? The harness I am running now works, but its really chewed up and I would rather change it out while the engine is apart and there is lots of room to work. :)

Sorry Joe,I think Dodge is going to be your only option unless you find all the connectors and build it your self. Many of the connectors are proprietary and will not be available.

Bob

Yeah, that is probably going to be my only option. I guess I am gonna make the original one work until it finally gives out and then throw the money down for a new one. :(
