I was finishing up installing my AMP power steps. The last item I wanted to complete was making sure the wiring harness going over the to the passengers side was secured. When I drilled a hole in the top of the fire wall the drill grabed and wnet into the harness enclosed in the plastic housing. Feeling extremely stupid#@$%!. Damage is repaired, however, I'm getting a service the 4 wheel drive system light and also P-1193 DTC. Can anyone direct me to a web site that I can use to determine the end use of the wires I damaged.

Your all free to inform me of any other expletives I may have forgot to call myself, I've used all that I can remember but I'm also sure there area few I forgot. The victim is my 2012 3500, SLT 4WD, 68RFE all stock, no mods

The P1193 is the intake air heater, in addition you must have cut or damaged another wire. Are you sure you repaired them all? What color wires got damaged?

Theory of Operation

The Inlet Air Temperature Sensor and the Inlet Air Pressure Sensor are combined in one sensor and are located in the top of the air cleaner box. The Inlet Air Temperature Sensor is used to measure the temperature of the air entering the intake system. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) provides a 5-Volt supply and sensor ground for the Inlet Air Temperature Sensor. The Inlet Air Temperature Sensor provides a signal back to the PCM on the Inlet Air Temperature Sensor Signal circuit. If this fault becomes active the PCM will light the MIL light.

•When Monitored:
When the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is powered on.

•Set Condition:
The circuit voltage to the PCM is above 4.75 Volts for more than one second.

Possible Causes

(F855) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(K615) INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(K615) INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
(K916) ) INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
INLET AIR TEMPERATURE/PRESSURE SENSOR
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

Sag the wires that were affected yellow with black stripe was cut and has been fixed. yellow with red stripe and purple with green stripe were nicked and will be fixed today. Skip

Bummer! Serious commiserations.

Go to this link and input your VIN. You get full detailed wiring schematics for your truck. Each system has a circuit diagram including wiring colours, and also shows the pin connections etc and physical location of every connector.

It may take you a while to identify which part of the harness you are in, but once you find the nearest connector you can track all the wires coming out of it, and hence the wires in the harness where the mishap occurred.

I really feel your pain. One feels so STOOPID. If it makes you feel any better - I was digging around inside my fusebox last week, trying to find an ignition feed, and shorted out from the uninsulated main feed into the fuse box to an aircon pipe. I intend to post a caution message about it one day soon. Welded a hole in the aircon high pressure line, dumped all the refrigerant. Repairs and regassing AUD $500 = USD $400. Whoops.

I can only see one circuit with those colors, and it's in the DTCM, Yl/Rd. Do you have any other related symptoms? Might check fuses J11 and M03, both are 30 amp.

So the MO3 fuse was blown and replaced, J 11 was good to go. Prior to replacing the M03 fuse the 4WD would not engage that has been fixed, however now the light is still telling me to service the 4WD and includes service trailer brake with the control blinking CF and a trailer symbule with a red hash mark in the EVIC display. The following codes were cleared U0121, P 2580, P 0882 P 2509. The following codes are still present P 1193, P2228, and P0102. The truck is going into the dealer tomorrow Lets hope it does'nt get to expensive. Thanks again for the help. Skip
