Tow Ropes/Straps

Front axle weak point

I am getting ready to install my B&W Turnover and Prodigy Brake Controller. For the time being, I will be only pulling a gooseneck for equipment transport. What/where is the best way to install the light/brake hookup plug inside the bed? Also, any tips on where to source these parts or should I just have them install it when they do my hitch? When will the dealers start doing this as part of the "Towing Pkg. "? Come on, DC. Use your noggin!!!

Wolfman,

I've had 2 B&W hitches installed, each by a different place , yet both threw in the inbed plug... Even if they would have charged me I would have paid for it as they had the tools handy since they were already drilling the bed for the hitch... Good luck, Bill

Placement

Where the plug is installed is important too. Having had such plugs on 3 trucks, I really like where the last installer put the plug. It is in the vertical post below the left rear stake-hole. Centered 9 inches below the railtop, it is very accessible by reaching over the tailgate, yet not in the way. An easy install too as far as routing the wires... . straight up from the bottom. Having had them down low, and forward in the bed, this is hands down the best location I have seen. .

I added a 7-way connector to the bed of my truck in the same location klenger has his. Use his instructions they are very helpful. (Thanks Ken) The one thing I did differently was I purchased a Draw Tite t-connector 18381. This connector plugs into the factory wiring harness on the backside of your 7-way connector. I then did all my splicing in this piece and did not have to cut into the trucks wiring harness.
