I have been reviewing the posts on how to fix the hunting/surging/nuisance shifting problems created by electrical noise in the Throttle position sensor circuit. One person has what seems to be the easiest and least expensive way to install an electrical filter by using a 44mf 35vdc capacitor across the TPS SIG wire and the SIG RETURN wire close to the Power control module. Message was posted 06-13-2009 by budnate. I believe his name is Steve Clayton, but I can't get hold of him. Maybe he moved or is no longer on the TDR site?

I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly which wires are the "SIG RETURN" wire and the "TPS SIG" wire.

Is there anyone else out there that might be familiar with the capacitor filter setup and can tell me which wires to connect to? I'm looking for something like the color of the wires and their location, or a pin number on C1 harness, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Al in Albuquerque

I think this is what you are looking for. Warning though, I tried it and it did solve my TC issue but caused more problems with the TPS. I couldn't get the TPS voltage to match with this set up so I ended up with a DTT noise filter.

It seems to have solved all my issues. The noise filter goes in the same circuit as this diagram. If you get a DTT filter, it'll have all the wiring instruction.

I used the BD fix. BD diesel performance e=mailed me with the information. I installed it 2 weeks ago. SO far its working. For $9 and shipping they sent me a wire I installed between the computer and TPS and grounding the

the orange/blue stripe wire. Took 5 minutes max. The address is -- email address removed --. They call it an "APPS noise isolator" It comes with written instructions and a picture

Me too... . The BD nine buck filter, has been working great for almost a year now!

I also adjusted the APPS voltage (easy)
