Slipping Clutch, under 50k?

Transmission wont shift out of first gear

I have a question when installing new shocks on my truck over the weekend, I found a wiring that was not connected and was dangling from a relay under the passenger side battery. I googled what the relay was and I think it is for the grid heater. But I could not find any pictures of the wiring going from the relay to the battery. The wire that was not connected to anything on one end is red and has an "A" that is identifying this wire. I looked at my sons 2013.5 truck and he has two wires going to a relay from the positive post on the battery. Would the 2008 truck also have two wires leaving the positive post to this relay?

I had the truck worked on last year at a local garage for my front end and they may have unfasten this wire and it has been off ever since. The grid heat light does light up on the dash panel when it is cold but the truck is usually plugged in so the block heater is on thus no starting issue in winter.

Thanks in advance!

Bump:

Anybody that has a 08 or a 09 truck, could they look at the passenger side battery and see if there is a red wire labeled as "A" connected to the positive post?

Jim, I will be digging mine out this weekend. I’ll look, may be the same as my ‘06 as far as that goes...

Thanks Mike! I had checked my older son's 2006 truck but the grid heater and circuit has been deleted from his truck.

Just got the batteries in and started. Will be bringing it down to the house shortly and will get a pic or two for you. Too dark to see in the garage...

Yes, “A” wire connects to the Positive battery terminal. Other end connects to the rearmost top terminal on the relay.

Thanks. That is what I thought since the wiring is only so long but I didn't want to damage the relay or anything eles if not connected correctly.

Thanks again
Jim
