Morning all.

I decided to get crafty last night and move my air horn switch to the dash. It used to sit between the seats with the compressor switch, making for some real surprises when I grabbed the wrong switch. Anyways, I tapped off the radio power (batt, acc, gnd, ILL) w/ some relays. When I went to test everything out, I accidentally ran a wire from the BATT to GND and ACC to the compressor.

When I hit the switch, the radio and all overhead lights went out. I tested every fuse and all wires and have no power to ACC or BATT. I went one step further and hooked up my SMARTY to get codes, but it wouldn't even power up! I got the codes from the dash and they are 1693, 237 and 602.

These following work:

Instruments, gauge pods, all exterior lights, truck starts.

:{

Overhead lights, radio, SMARTY.

Any help is greatly appreciated. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/smile.gif

Tried them and even checked the fuses, verifying with meter, all are good. There is power at the fuse for the radio, but nothing in the dash behind the radio.

Not sure I follow everything , its a lot easier to have hands on , but it sounds like you may have burned out the components , you need to just trace all wires [ ground & power ] from end to end , with a meter , + voltage and neg. continuity , if your lucky you may find just one part that burned and passes power/ground to the rest .

Thanks, I will give that a try. I tested the grounds already, but didn't test the power wires. I'm really concerned, though, because the SMARTY does not work either, when plugged into the port.

Fixed it!

Went around and searched for a while and found out that the IOD fuse controls everything that went bad. Went out and tried it and sure enough it was blown. Now the horn and Compressor work as designed. YEAH!!!!Oo.

Thanks for everyone's help on this. I was really scared. Oo. Oo. Oo.

In case anyone else runs into this, the IOD (Ignition Off Draw) fuse runs the following: Cargo Lamp, CHMSL, Diagnostic Connector, Dome Lamp, Glove Box Lamp, Map Lamps, Power Mirrors, Radio, Under Hood Lamp.
