Putting an ISB 305 into a Hummer

oil volume

my o1 Quad all of a sudden developed a wiring quirk . The cruise control buttons stopped working also the radio volume control and tuner buttons located on the steerung column quit. also the "ABS" light in the dash stays lit. I have looked for a fuse/breaker to no avail. The dash controls for the radio work fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My wife's Jeep Wrangler had this same problem when it got doused in a late night thunderstorm with no top. Turns out the clockspring got wet and caused the steering wheel controls to go dead. Apparently the ABS goes through the clockspring also and that is why the ABS light comes on. It would throw a throttle position sensor code.

The clockspring, in case you don't know, is the (on edit) (electrical) connection between the steering wheel and the column.

It took about a week for it to completely dry out and we haven't had problems with it since. Other Jeep owners have had to replace them after getting them wet.

Have you been in an extremely moist climate lately, or has the steering wheel/column gotten wet somehow?

Take off the knee panel under the dash and look for any pinched wires coming down the column. You might have caught some wires with your foot getting in or out at one time.

check and see if the recall for the clockspring was done on your truck. Mine did the same thing 3 times. All under warranty. Also my airbag light would come on. -Jason

Does anyone know if a 1st gen has a "clockspring"? These problems sound very similar to something that I am experiencing with my truck.
