Limited Electrical (12V) Power from Truck?

When I bought my truck, the first owner had changed the trailer wiring plug at the rear of the truck. I am gonna put back on what is supposed to be there. Is there any diagrams that show how they should be wired?? Does most trailer/fifth wheels have the same wiring setup?? Lights, electric brakes. etc. .

Take a look HERE. The pinouts shown are industry standard for the 7-pin Bargman or Pollack-type connector.

Click Here for another good source on trailer plug wiring.

Yes it is fairly standard in the RV/Trailer industry. The colors change on the trucks put the wiring pattern has stayed the same.

Thanks Rusty!!

The printer is running as I type!! I am a complete zero when it comes to wiring, would you also know the wire identification (colors) at the rear of my truck?? If not I can sit behind it with a test light and figure it out.

Thanks again!!

I believe the color codes shown in TSB 08-33-96 were OK when I put the 7-pin connector in the bed of my 2002. In case you're having trouble making them out, they are

#1 - Black

#2 - Light Blue

#3 - Black with an Orange stripe

#4 - Red with a Tan stripe

#5 - Dark Green with a Red stripe

#6 - Brown with a Pink stripe

#7 - Violet with a Black stripe
