boost will the stock Holset handle? With "Max" boost and EGT set points of 40 psi and 1400 degrees, some overshoot occurs prior to backdown fueling. My digital guage captured these readings:

I will replace the stock unit when it becomes more clear which will be best for my use. Until then, what should boost be limited to? Stated differently, what is probably safe, and what is dangerously high?

I am happy with the Edge product so far. Some pictures if install in gallery.

Why the high settings?

EDGE recommends 34 boost and 1350 max EGT. There's an old saying,... "when in the hole,... don't dig". No offense but your pushing your luck. You need to upgrade everything to run like that. EDGE also tells you that in your manual.

Actually,

Quote: "Note that increasing the Max boost set point above 36 PSI increases the risk of damage to your turbo. "

When I dialed in 40 psi, I realized this was about 10 percent over recommendation. So the overshoot (to 44. 2 psi) was not anticipated. This was almost 23% over, even though it was a transient peak value. I just wanted to ask if there is experience/knowledge out there that 36 psi is conservative (which is likely, or at least possible), and if so, is the stock turbo good for more?

Don't want to sound argumentative, just clarifying. Thanks

Max loads on stock turbo for 04.5

Max load is 34lbs if the turbo is to stay together. Will it,. . might it,... hold at 40 +,. . it may, but not on a even semi consistent basis. The boost was my complaint to EDGE when beta testing the Juice. The latest and greatest version I received I have set at 34 and it stops there even at wot at 100+ doesn't exceeed that. The highest egt I've seen empty at wot is 1099. My caution to you was based on I know how many $'s you'll spend if you run the numbers you posted. I'd like to do more with mine also and have been pricing turbos, transmission upgrades and such,... big bucks. The Juice won't let you max it out without breaking stuff using stock parts. Good luck.

I was actually glad to see J/A able to exceed stock configuration. Have personally done more complex turbos, so upgrading will be done if I find a turbo that doesn't bring a lot of problems with it (lag/spool-up, barking, peakiness, etc. ). BTW I hit 34. 2 psi stock. I think this reflects the low averaging time (=sampling rate) on that guage. Makes it extremely sensitive, especially compared to ballistic meters. I was just checking to see if max boost was listed in the "Records" menu of the Attitude, for comparison, but it isn't there. I agree, things start getting serious when you get beyond the turbo upgrade. South county.

Not sure about the Edge, But with my TST I hit 40 psi often and under the right condition I have seen 45 psi. As far as EGT's go 1400 often and have seen 1500 max (only for a very very short time).

BTW I have been running it like this for probably 20,000 miles no problems so far.
