Grizzly,

Wow... . What a difference a few days make over the Wolf Creek Pass! I went through there on 8-3-08 at midnight grossing 41,000# and had the windows down enjoying the cool crisp air. When did they get the snow?

That happened on 4 & 5 Oct (Saturday & Sunday). We were in Chama, NM at that time and we had tons of rain. My rain gauge in Albuquerque had 1. 53" for that weekend.

The photo is in the Chama to Antonito area.

Made the trip for the first time from Lake City to Creede over Slumgullion pass, man WHAT a drive. Somewhere between Creede and lake City we got caught in a cattle drive down the middle of the road. We spent the day on Lake San Cristobal fishing, was a great day until the weather decided to get crazy.

Scott, we also went to Creede from South Fork. Nice mountain mining town.

Been over about every pass in Colorado, most of them pulling tankers, and all of them in winter and summer. Try Battle Mountain, in a whiteout, Monarch when it is slick as glass, or Loveland in a blizzard with 8500 gallons of Av gas behind you... Pucker factor goes way up! We could not go through the tunnel unless Loveland was closed, hazardous materials and all. . Now in my pickover with a fifthwheel, it is just enjoyable, not a paved pass out here I can't meet or exceed the speed limit. Thats what the Cummins is made for. . :D

Try Stevens Pass near Skykomish, WA. , La Manga and Cumbres Pass on RTE-17 in CO. (went over that one by accident in my big truck... . OOPS!)

The hardest "steady" pulls are Cabbage Patch, Pendleton OR. , grades North and South of Camp Verde, AZ. (I-17), Loveland and Vail Pass, CO. (eastbound), Homestake Pass, Butte, MT. , Dunsmuir, Tehachapi, Cajon, Grapevine Passes, CA. ,

Anyone been down the RTE-140 grade between NV. state line and Adel, OR. ? That is the one grade I do not like going down with just bumper-pull, let alone in big rig. No guard rail with sheer cliff and S-turns all the way down. 8-9% grade. Kinda reminded me of The Death Road in S. America.

Below is my old 359 Pete atop Crater Lake Pass, OR in 8' of snow.

Damn what an awesome looking pete!! I truly love the 359 and 379. . It's a shame they had to discontinue the 379 all together, but I guess that makes them worth more value!! What is your setup in that truck, as far as engine, transmission, and rears? I will post a pic of my 379 up on here as soon as I can shrink it enough!
