 Went out this morning like everything morning and switched on the key. Waited till the "wait start engine" light goes off. It was 59 degrees this morning so it went off fast. She cranked right up. Waited about 5-8 seconds before going then she died. I tried to crank her again, but only a fast crank no attempt to fire. So i cracked the water dump and turned the key. The fuel pump hummed and cycled off. Still no attempt to fire only fast crank. Watcha think fellas ?

First of all i would check and see if you have fuel to the injection pump,,also check to make sure its not water. . If you have fuel to the injection pump. . crack an injector line and make sure you are getting fuel to the injectors. . If you don't have pressure to the injection pump. . then more than likey it's the fuel pump related. . or a drain back problem to the tank. . Hope this helps. .

It is also very important to know what your fuel pressure is at all times, some have a fuel pressure guage in the cab, some just check fuel pressure at the vp44 pump once in a while, but if fuel pressure gets low enough it will take out the injection pump... Big Bucks. . Also if you haven't changed the fuel filter in the last 12,000 miles i would put one in soon, because a pluged filter will let very little fuel to the injection pump... running good one day, filler up with bad fuel,,and no go... I hope you find the problem.

Well this is what happened. Went out to crack the lines. I tried once again to crank her but no go. Let the fuel pump cycle. Then i remembered one of the threads about how one of you fellas held his foot to the floor as he cranked it for about 10 secs. Well lo and behold she cranked !!!! SHE LIVESSSSSSSS ! So what's the problem fellas? Air in system? Bad lift pump?

Once she cranked i didn't look any further. It tried to do the same this morning again, but did crank. She turned over a couple revolutions before she cranked. I am thinking the lift pump is going bad and the injector pump is losing prime. I also think air is somehow leaking into the system. and this what has caused the problem. I am going to check the pressure on the system and go from there. MACHINEST thank you for your help.
