Well my truck wouldn't start earlier this week. checked the batteries, they are OK

Rebuilt starter: contacts were well worn but they said that is why the starter is not working. ( I didn't really think it was the starter originally but... )

Checked all the fuses and relays that might effect starting/cranking: didn't see any blown.

Still won't crank:(

I can hear the lift pump energize when I turn the key on and all lights, chimes, etc... are working 4. 0. It is just when I go to turn the key all the way to crank it that I get nothing.

I am about ready to have it town to the dealer to see what they have to say:confused:

Any last suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

no start

hi breck looking at my 1998. 5 manual it shows a 30 amp fuse in the p. d. c. located on the left fender, that goes to joint connecter #2 in the p. d. c. , the wire out of the p. d. c. 30 amp fuse is color pk/bk ,the wire from p. d. c. #2 goes to enginestarter motor relay in p. d. c. wire from relay to starter code br. have you checked the fuse? if its ok swap the relay with a 30 amp from another circuit. hope this helps. :) :)

I have the (Power Distribution Center?) pdc cover and I see on the left side:

30 amp Ignition run fuse

20 amp Engine control 2 fuse

30 amp Engine control 1 fuse

On the right side:

starter relay

I swaped out the relay with other relays that on the right side and that didn't work i. e. blower motor relay, trailer relay, fuel heater relay.

All the fuses were ok as well.

I am going to check and see if I am getting power at the starter next.

The truck is sitting outside in snow..... so I am not all that excited about crawling around underneath it

Dead

Sometimes if the starter is going take a hammer and tap on the starter as someone is in the truck with the key in the starting mode. Just a thought.

Update: It started:D

blown 20 amp fuse... . I swear it wasn't blown when I checked it last night and the first time it didn't start.

I guess when the starter went it took out the fuse?

Thank you for all that helped.

P. S. If you haven't checked your contacts on the starter and have about 100K or a lot of starts I would do so: Very easy to check and replace with updated contacts. ( I wish I would have checked mine before it left me stranded:rolleyes: at home.

The fuse blew most likely from high load due to cold weather and worn contacts as other member stated replace contacts as they have hi mileage on them and its cold out side in Mi as you know. LOL Ron Bissett In Metro Louisville KY
