I searched the archives and I know I have seen this problem before, but my truck every now and then will not go into 1st. It is an auto as you can see in my sig, but even when I place the it in 1st manually it still won't go in. It starts out in second. All other shifts still seem normal. I have to turn the truck on and off again then it seems to work fine. What is up???

Thanks guys.

so does mine---when it's like that, glance up at your temp display in the roof... when the transmission fluid is below 40*F, the truck's ECM wants it warmer, so starts in 3rd/slip and you only get 3-slip/3 lock(forced by my BD Autoloc) and 4-slip and 4 lock (also forced)--- once the transmission's warm, kill/restart will reset to 1234 shifting... I don't know what purpose this serves, unless the engineers want all the metal parts and seals doing most of their operating at a 40+ temp range... rm --I guess we're supposed to consider this to be "normal"...

I had the same problem when I installed the BD valve body. It has something to do with voltage on the PCM. They had me install a resistor in line with a wire from the PCM. BD can send you the infor to fix this problem.

I was just looking at my FSM and one of the likely culprits is the governor valve sticking. My transmission should have been up to tempnature, I was driving for at least 20 miles before I ever notice this problem. I guess a little I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER chat with BD is order. I don't think it is a BD related problem, but I sure think they can help. #ad
