Put in clutch and slave. 2003 6 speed 3500. Can turn truck off and change gears. Sometimes it might sift with no problems. Has anyone ran into this before.

WHat were the symtoms leading to the change? (You sure that was the problem?)

So you're not able to shift if the engine is running?

the truck at one timewouldn't stop when you pushed in the clutch. It wouldn't go into 1st without turning the truck off. Had a new clutch and slave put in on the road in AR. . Found out the poilt bring was bad. Drove the truck back from AR. didn't seem to fix it. Drove the truck more and sometimes it works fine. One might say that it has air in it, but everthing is a closed system. Then you might say that the slave isn't ingaging all the way. Don't know where to start now.

If the only the slave was replaced then the closed system was open and there could be air in there. You could also have a bad master. Go up under the dash and you'll find a switch on the arm to the master from the clutch pedal arm. That switch slides up and down that rod. Slide the switch away from the master cylinder and you'll find a small sponge back there - see if it's wet. If it is then your master cylinder is leaking - I've had two fail there.

There should be a allen screw or something of the sort on the slave (down at the clutch) right where the line connects to it ,you need to unscrew it and do a gravity bleed (let it sit a while don't pump it) Before you do it get someone under the truck and someone inside pumping it and see if the shaft is moving. It's quite simple. Do Steve's idea first
