Hi guys my son's ecodiesel won't regen . I t got up to 100% he took it down freeway as the monitor told him too. It's at the dealer they don't seem to be in a rush and they didn't give him a loaner. Ideas?

If the regen isn't completed and it reaches 100% soot level the dealer will have to do a forced/stationary regen. The drive at highway speeds warning will come on when the soot level reaches 80% and 90%. If the regen isn't completed and it reaches 100% you can no longer regen by driving.

There are certain CEL's that will prevent a regen but if there was no check engine light most likely didn't take the 80% and 90% warning.

The monitor said to take it down the freeway for a half hour which he did with no change. Not sure about check engine light. Will update. Thanks

Do you know if he got the message at 80% and then it went up to to 100% while on the half hour ride?

I'm thinking it could be a bad sensor or a fault code preventing the rege. Let us know what the dealer says. Thanks

The recall includes a stationary regen as part of the procedure. For future purposes, though, there are OBD plug-ins that can communicate to your Cel phone, and you can interrogate the truck, troubleshoot problems and reset CEL codes. They’re not real expensive. Mine’s called OBD Fusion, and my son gave it to me for my birthday a few weeks after I got my little truck.

Thanks everyone. Well for some reason he was pissed off and traded the truck in for a toyota truck gasser. I said why don't you wait to get get your emission monies from FCA before you do it? didn't want too. oh well this separates the old guys from the young guys.

If the flash they did for the update was the AEM update, he is entitled to the FCA payout even if he sold it. The toyota is a nice truck as long as someone else is paying for the gas Lol. My son in law has a tundra and he's lucky if he gets half the mileages as my Ram. Luckily his work pays for gas.

Had a 2nd gen Tacoma that 4L VVT liked to do 80, but, it was so unmaneuverable that we ended up hating it.

And the MPG were like a 60s-era farm truck.
