Hi all,

I have been having problems shifting into OD pretty well since owning my CTD about 1 1/2 years ago. As of recent it won't shift into OD at all. I have been on the forum trying to sort it out. TPS seems fine from what i have read. Voltage is accurate. Could it still need replacement? Doesn't seem like a VSS issue considering the speedo doesn't die. I am dreading dropping the pan on the transmission to check the OD solenoid but if you guys think that is the problem then thats that. Cheers and Merry Christmas.

Just added my signature. Sorry guys.

The VSS could still be the problem, the speedo will work and the OD be flaky. The VSS drive gears will strip out internally and you will still ses the speedo and odo move but the signal is so dirty OD does not like life.

You don't need to dro0 the VB or pan ar anything to check the OD solenoid, just tap a swtich to gorund lead into the external wire to test it. You would scotch loc onto the wire that does not have 12 volt with the key on. Make sure the auto shut down relay is not burnt out or fuse bad and you have 12 volt at the trans connector to start with.

Since about half the issues with getting the OD to work correctly are in the connectors and wiring harness it almost easier to wire in a potentiometer for the TPS and add the 98 shift stalk with the OD button in it. You can set OD to shift at what ever speed you want then use the OD button to drop it when needed.

You might also check the crank position sensor and wire that goes from it that's were I had a problem in my 92 the wire was bad
and it made my overdrive go in and out at random.
