Ok it’s 90 degrees outside & I’m sitting in the drive through at White Castle, give my order & wait for the line to move.

After several minutes I finally get to the window & put my transmission into park, column shift, & for some reason I keep my foot on the brake pedal.

When they finally hand me the food I try to pull it out of park and it won’t move.

I tried to move it with foot off the brake pedal and on the brake pedal... no go.

I put my foot on the brake & turn the engine off... and than I restarted it pulled column shifter out of park & drove away.

Already had trans recall performed soooo....

Any ideas? Suggestions? And I don’t mean “don’t eat at White Castle.

There was a recall on the shifter interlock, IIRC.
Had to get mine done, as well.
Now, I won't put my truck in park without the e brake on. Not letting it put pressure against the park pawl seems to have helped quite a bit.

IIRC the fix for transmission interlock was to turn off the solenoid if your foot was on the brake pedal for an extended amount of time. Sounds like that is what happened to you. Not sure what the reset period is but the solenoid is supposed to reset if you take your foot off the brake pedal and put it back on.

Houghtonic is correct, only I thought after this solenoid timeout happened, all you had to do was lift your foot and re-apply it to the brake pedal and the solenoid would turn on again for 3 more minutes

Thanks for the responses!

I’d had the recall done already, just software update no parts, and I don’t usually sit with my foot on the brakes for a long period of time so I guess it was just a fluke.

If enough other Ram owners have this happen to them we can look forward to another recall.
