Seattle to Missoula, pulled off for fuel and truck died on the off ramp. Now won't start. Fuel in filter and to my pressure gauge. Took neg cables off. 360-250-0775. Appreciate any help.

I am only getting codes p1693 and p0234 which have been on there for a while. Truck ran fine all the way from Seattle. Truck is a 2001 24v, with auto.

How low was the tank when you pulled off? You may be out of fuel. Fuel feeds from the top of the filter canister. Might have gotten air locked. Crack open some injector lines and try cranking to see if you are getting good fuel flow to the head.

Pulled off one of the lines at the injector and cranked it over a few times. There is fuel to that point. Although I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to see.

Was it really low on fuel when you pulled off? If so, try adding aroud 5 gal, cycle fuel pump a few times, and then bleed the front 3-4 injector lines. If it won't start then, I'd start looking for disconnected wires... ...

I'd say to check wires. Plug-ins to cam sensor, crank sensor, MAP sensors, ECM, look for anything unplugged or not plugged in good. Only other scenario I could think of would be that you lost the pump.

I have seen a few pumps that were weak. I'm sure the fuel feed piston was galled, but once ran dry they won't start. Once bled, they were impossible to get started again unless they were started with engine starting fluid or pull started. I don't approve, but to get it started on the side of the road.....

Thanks everyone. Will get it in the shop in the morning. Just frustrating doing hotels and adding to the repair cost (and not hunting!).

Pulled two of them all the way off and pulled the tubing to the side of the injector. Some fuel came out while cranking, but it wasn't shooting out.

It won't. That is why we recommend cracking the lines open at the head. You should see good fuel (not foamy) and squirts/spray that will make a mess of the engine compartment if you do it too long.

Then tighten thenut back up bump the starter once that will make the lift pump run for 25 seconds you mite want do it twice. Then push the pedal to the floor and crank (short intervals). This is how I got my Freithliner started after I ran out of fuel.

Shop got the truck started, but can't find anything wrong. Either an air lock or VP is dying. On the road again and hoping for the best. My sincerest thanks to everyone for all their assistance.

If if will make you feel better, I know of two that are hard as heck to get started after running out of fuel. One has run 80k+ since the problem was discovered, the other ran 55k before the VP quit. It appears, as long as they have suffecient fuel supply they'll run a while... ... .
