Have 2003, 3500, Standard Engine And Chrysler Diagnosed Bad Pressure Pump. Has Anyone Had This Problem And If So What Are My Options.

Chrysler Wants $2100 To Replace. Local Pump And Injector Shop Says That

They Will Replace For $1300 (Sons Truck)

My experience has been that if you can find a REPUTABLE diesel shop that knows what they are doing, that is the way to go. Most often cheaper and the people know what they are doing (check what their warranty will be (how long / miles, what does it cover?; do the same with the dealer). Is there a Cummins shop near you that you could go have a chat with? $1300 sounds reasonable to me. My VP44 for my '99 cost me $1500 installed.

Pump Is Available From Chrysler As A Reman Part Lists For $1100 And Takes About 2. 5 Hours To Put On. Have Had To Replace A Couple For This. Both Trucks Had Fueling Boxes On And Over 100,000 Miles

My truck died like you had turned off the key while going down the road at 70 mph. Has not hit a lick since. Is this how yours acted? I posted in the 3rd gen. engine and transmission forum under "my engine died". You might look it up and see if it was like the way your truck acted. Any help would be appreciated. The truck now has over 149,000 miles.
