I have a 2003 Lariat with the six speed transmission 4x4 srw 3500. Twice in the last year I have got in the truck to start it and nothing! No overhead light, no dash light, no nothing! I put a set of jumpers on the truck and bang it fires off. You can start it again immediately. I can't figure this one out. The only thing that I think is in common is that the keys were in the ignition both times and yes it was shut off. Any ideas?

The gm's have a system that will turn everything off when the battery drops to a certain level. I don't know if you still need to jump it or it will fire off and i don't know if our trucks have a simular system.

How long did it sit from the time you last shut it off? The truck has load shedding and all the modules start going to sleep after you shut off the truck. If one or more modules stay awake, it can drain the batteries, but it usually takes at least two days in all but the worst cases. Not sure if the "key in" switch will keep it awake without trying it with an amp meter installed, but my guess is that it will. The truck assumes something is going to happen because the key is still in the ignition.

The times that it happened, the truck had been parked for about a week, with the keys in the ignition I believe. I can't understand the jumping it and everything is ok immediately.
