Tried to start up the cummins this morning and it wouldn't even turn over. I thought it was odd the overhead light did not come on. Is it common to get a bad battery? Not long ago I had a post about the radio and was told to check the battery. Had to ride to work in my neighbors Ford with a gas engine, mine is in the driveway still. Should I take it to the dealer or just go buy some good batteries?

I would definitely take it back to the dealer. It's rather new to be having any issues like that. The dealer needs to find out what is wrong with your truck and you shouldn't need to be buying batteries for it.

Okie,

It's under warranty - make it the dealer's problem. ;)

My previous 1996 V-10 dually went to Wiesner Dodge on the hook for the same thing. It was under warranty and they changed the battery out (it only had one).

If it was me, I would find out which battery is dead and disconnect the ground cable to it (or install one of my spare batteries I got laying around for the boat and camper). Charge up the other battery, start the truck and drive it to the dealer. Make them fix it while you wait.

Thanks for all the help! After a ride on the wrecker and two new batteries the truck is on the road again. The check on teh alternator showed it was working and the truck checked out OK. Started fine this morning to come to work. Thanks for the help and e-mails. Okie
