Last two tanks, when I tried to fill up I have had to hold just the tip of the nozzle into the filler neck and squeeze the handle about a 5th of the way, if I try to put in fuel faster it foams up and will shut off.

Any ideas?

The white tube on the top of the sender unit seems to have a diesel and mud mix on it.

You need to clean the roll over valve in your filler neck.

Remove it, clean and put in in the toolbox to keep it clean. Summer fuel is full of air. A blocked tank vent is only part of the problem.

Oddly, I wanted the faster fill process for winter than summer. Something really motivating about a -20°F day with a 15 mph breeze.

The rollover valve is a plastic ball in your fill hose that keeps the fuel in when the truck is upside down. Remove the screws that hold the fill spout under the fuel lid, loosen the hose clamps to the tube under the truck, pull it apart and pop the ball out. Go play tennis

Did you say go play golf?

Shot an 81 the other day, best ever 9 over par, told my friends I would never play again.

Don't want to see what happens next time.

I'll clean the vent tube and remove the rollover ball, hopefully before I get fuel again.

thanks

Not to hijack this thread too badly, but Bills statement here made me laugh, thinking about a few Jeeps and rock crawlers I have seen with the famous "If you can read this, please turn me over" stickers on them. Upside down to "normal" viewing, of course :D

God, I hope I never need to worry about that with my truck :--) :{
