This is not the truck in my signature its for my dad he has A 01. 5 4x4 qc bone stock. The problem is when you take off it doesnt want to upshift from 1st to 2nd. As long as you stay in the throttle it will stay in 1st if you go slow or are hammering it doesn't matter until you let off a little bit then it goes into second and does fine after that. If you let it go into 2nd then kick it down the motor revs like crazy but just acts like its not hooked to the transmission, but after it gets in second it goes through the rest of the gears fine and pulls strong. Fluid is fine codes are p-pcu, p1693, p-ecu, p0234 which I think is an overboost code not sure how he got that stock. Any ideas guys hes had this truck 5 months and it did this all at once ran great yesterday then right off the bat this morning started doing this. transmission doesn't feel like its slipping at all just doesn't want to shift from 1st to 2nd, and it doesn't matter if you try it manually it still doesn't help. Thanks in advance. Adam

No good news here. Sounds like the problem I just had. The trans would hold 1st then slip n slide into 2nd and rev like it wasn't there. Truck is getting a new trans as we speak. Drop the pan and look at the fluid. Is it shiny? Lots of clutch material in pan? Any metal? You might get lucky ($200 is better than $3500) and just need a governer solenoid and sensor. But it you see the shiny fluid or other stuff don't be a fool like I was and replace the solenoid and sensor praying for a miracle. Waste of money.

Has the ABS light been flashing on and off? When my speed sensor quit, my truck shifted like you're saying. It's about $20 from Dodge and you change it in 5 min.

i had the exact same problem with my truck. I took it to a transmission shop. The cause for my problem was the 2nd gear band broke - actually the strut. It was a 500 buck fix - most of the cost was labor. Hopefully that is all it is for your dad's truck. I know rebuilds are not cheap

its more than likely shifting from 1st to 3rd gear. manually put the gear select in 2nd. If it doesn't engage i'll bet it is the same problem i had

The truck is shifting to 2nd, and runs good after that. Its going into the shop tommorrow so well se what the problem is. Thanks for the help guys.

Well JMachemer you could not have hit the nail any more on the head. As soon as the guy hooked it up to his computer he called me said shifting from 1st to 3rd. Pulled the pan started tearing it apart busted 2nd gear band. So now its getting a rebuild. Thanks for the help guys it seems like everyone on here has had one problem or another.
