Has anyone figured out if you can delete the woodgrain dash insert and just get a normal black plastic or gray insert like in the previous years?

Every 06 I've looked at has the woodgrain and it's without a doubt the worst looking woodgrain look I've seen. I could tolerate it if it didn't look so fake and actually blended in with the rest of the dash, but this thing just sticks out like a sore thumb.

Does sport package delete it? Apparently Laramie doesn't and the SLT has it also.

I believe it's the Sport that has these panels in silver.

As to it's look, it does have somewhat of a realistic look (I think it's burlewood that it resembles). I initially didn't like it, but I'm used to it. It does break up the gray/black bland look. It's okay, but I'm keeping my eyes open for alternatives (I don't like the silver on the Sport).

Ditto... I loathe woodgrain but I've quickly gotten used to it. I don't "like" it, but it's not as hideous as I thought. Actually had a couple people compliment it.

With that said, if I find a replacement silver dash piece or something I'll be all over it. :)

I've always felt you can't go wrong with a brushed stainless look or just black plastic.

Woodgrain, carbon fiber, etc. are a little over the top and should be left to aftermarket or one of the higher-end trim packages in the model lineup. Not SLT and Laramie combined, which probably accounts for 80% of the vehicles sold.
