Chippewa, Red Wings and Double H have some in the running. Just need to narrow it down now.

Came across www.onlineshoes.com Pretty good selection. :) I'll check out the local Red Wing stores first, then order on-line, if needed.

Thanks again everyone. Several brands I've never heard of before. More options. :)

Found some nice dress cowboy boots to consider as well. :) My Durango boots are falling apart inside.

Used Boots

Besides my new love of diesels, my other hobby is selling shoes/boots on Ebay. I have sold over 2200 pairs since 2000. Some I find in resale stores around here, others are mine.

I have a pretty nice boot collection. I wear an 11-12, but have other sizes, too. Just sold some Danners that were like new!

Red Wings rule! I have about 7 pairs. I also have some steel toed CAT boots that rock! :D

I am in a delimma right now because my wife wants me to get some dress shoes, but I don't want to get anything that isn't a Red Wing. I think I paid something like $175 for mine and I can't believe how good they feel. I'm on my 2nd pair right now with the first being my "rough and tumble boots". They just don't give up. We use phosphate ester hydraulic oil here at work and everyone complains about it disolving the soles of their shoes, but I don't have any problems. Red Wings are the only shoe that I have ever had that were more comfortable new than when worn to my feet. I tried Justin and Wolverine slip on boots and just about killed my feet. Of course my RW's are lacers, but what a world of difference. My feet were actually able to heal after getting the RW's. The old ones are now about 3. 5 years old and I have never had a daily wear shoe last much over a year. My suggestion is that you spend the extra money for a really good pair of shoes/boots that will last a lot longer and wind up costing you less in the long run. Go Red Wings! Oo.

Amen! I just bought my first pair of steel toe Red Wing boots. I actually bought a pair and ordered a second pair so I can rotate every other day. I have had Justin (which were pretty good) and Wolverine (which were junk) also. Two of my mechanics at work told me about Red Wings. They have had theirs for at least 3 years. Spend the extra money and get the best! Made in USA too, which is important to me because if WE don't support our country, WHO WILL?

I have both Carolina and Red Wing slip on's with steel toe. I like both of them but the Carolina's are a little nicer. I wear a size 13EE but they may come a little bigger.

Good Luck

Dave

I love my Whites. I have 2 pair of the cowboy packers. I rotate 1 out and have it rebuilt every year and a half or so. Damn good boots, but a B**ch to break in!

If TSC doesn't have it, I don't need it... :)

TSC quit selling the Georgia boots (wellingtons) I used to wear, so I had to start going to the Amish department store :)

got a set of ankle high boots I pass for dress shoes by Knapp last time that are nice. I can't wear the Chippewa's everyday, they start to stink.

LOL, same here. one pair of packers and one pair of the smoke jumpers. best boots i have ever bought. the smoke jumpers are quite stiff, but the packers are very smooth and comfy. i'll probably be buried in them. #ad

You Just Think You Have Big Feet.

I wear in tennis shoes a size 18. 13-14 still easy to find. I wore RedWings for many years and finally decided THEY SUCK!!!!. Iron Age safety supply offers sizes up to 20. Don't like them much either--insufficient ankle support. I love and will swear by(not at) GEORGIA BOOTS. I wear a 10 inch high lace-up. They are steel toe, have a padded collar, oil resistant sole, and quite a sturdy liner. There is a catch. $200. 00 and not made in the USA. I also have a pair of their insulated 16" high. I have found that laceups are the most dependable for my application. I work in an injection molding plant and my soles have endured hot metal chips, hydraulic oil, diesel, gasoline, and various lube oils. I buy one pair per year. Give ya' some idea of the abuse they get--I am 6'3" and weigh in around 280. I am on my feet 8-10 hours a day, and any other brand is pure torture. Hope this helps. ANDY
