My 95 has 211k on the clock. It's getting a south bend clutch put in it right now so I can put in some 370's to go with my 3k springs and plate. My question is how worried should I be about my engine blowing up with that much power and that many miles? Thanks. Also have any of y'all got your TDR mags yet? I haven't. Thanks

Eric

I dont think you will have any problems. Mine has 160,000 on it and has been modified since i first got it at 138,000. Bombs away!

Eric, if you:

-->Avoid high EGTs

-->Don't drive with your foot to the firewall all the time

-->Change your oil and oil, air and fuel filters regularly

then it should live a long time. Provided your engine is healthy still. If it doesn't use much oil or blow much out the blowby then it's probably in good shape.

I heard the 370 injectors aren't the best choice because the spray pattern doesn't match the engine but other than making more smoke I don't know that that will cause significant long-term damage. Seems like a lot of guys run them OK but bear in mind they will smoke quite a bit more and soot up your oil faster so it'll be good to keep it changed.

I have my eye on a '96 that I'm looking to drop $9k on but the motor runs great, sounds great and doesn't have much blowby coming out of the tube at idle. It shows 350,994 on the clock.

370's and SBC went in my truck at around 169k... I've got 221k, and it's been wailed on every day since installation... runs good and strong. I change the oil often, and I'm planning a bypass filtration system. the 370's, AFC hsng/wheel full forward, laggy HX40-16 and flat rackstop plate full forward = LOTS of smoke! :p

I bought my truck with 181,000 and drive it like I stole it. I've bombed it pretty good and I'm not worried at all. I now have 245,000. I know a guy who has 2 CTD's both with over 500,000 miles. Engine problems..... watch the EGT's... don't over boost the stock headgasket and you'll be fine for a LONG time.

I have personally seen a guy from IN that bought an older black regular cab 2500 with 850k miles on the clock.

He uses it to plow snow in the winter and sled pulls with it in the summer. I think about the only thing he has done to it is pull the head after he whacked it with insane boost from a set of twin turbos and lots of fuel...

Keep up with normal maintenance, watch your gauges and you'll be just fine.
