Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Would a lift pump from a bigger Cummins work for us?

Has anybody ever thought to investigate the possibility of using the lift pump from a larger Cummins series engine? Like maybe the 8. 3... . ?? Of course, for all I know, they don't even have lift pumps, or they are absolutely a different beast of pump altogether.....

Just a random thought...

The C8. 3 pump is completely different than ours, I research it over a year ago. It has two inlets and two outlets for one thing. It would take a lot of fabrication to make it work just like the aftermarket pumps that are being tried.

In reality the 8. 3 pump is basicly the same pump with the ports not drilled. Instead of the cover plate there is a large head the 4 ports Steve is talking about. The rotor and vanes are the same as our pumps. The 5. 9 in motorhomes use the same pump we do with an inlet fitting to a 5/8 hose insteat of a 5/16.
