I have a set of Pricol optix gauges mounted in a apillar mount. I have the lights hooked up on the dimmer switch and they do brighten and dim like they're supposed to but they are to bright for my taste. When I have my dash lights fully dimmed the gauge lights are just right. Anyway I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion on dimming them just a little so that I can turn my dash lights back up. Maybe a resistor or something, but where to start?

When my son and I installed gauges in my truck we were able to set the brightness level for the gauges. I belive that there is an adjustment on the back of the gauges that can be set so as to be as bright as the instrument panel gauges. You then can dim the dash panel and the extra gauges will dim also. Did you adjust this before you finish the install? If you did I believe another option would be to purchase a resistor from Radio Shack or electronic store to provide more resistance in the lightening thus causing a dimmer light.

Hope this helps?

I did the wiring kit but didn't recall anything to set the gauges. Of course I didn't read any instructions either, go figure. Anyway I pull off my a-pillar mount and take a look. Thanks for the info.

Mine had 3 little POTs on the assm, can't imagine you missing that. Maybe I ordered a different assm!? Now you have me second guessing. I ordered it from Genos.

Hummm, I noticed the Pricol line is not offered from Genos anymore. That doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about my gauges!

I used a 2K ohm potentiometer. $3. 95 on ebay. I also put a switch in to kill the lights completely. My eyes are overly sensitive to light at night. I'll flip the lights on when pulling a hill.
