Would trade for 325/600 but have to much invested in my 01. Have exhaust brake ,banks power pack , 50 gal trans flow and numbers other things. Drove a 04 auto 1 ton i really liked but i still don`t trust Chyrslers auto. The 6 speed is really the only way to go if your going to pull any kind of weight. Thats only my 2 cents. <Ron>Oo.

1992 CTD 164,000 miles. :--) 01 HO Banks Power Pack , 50 gal trans flow, 30 ft forest river 5th.

I sold, then un-sold my '99 thinking the same thing, but then an offer came along I couldn't refuse. If you put your truck on the market on the high end of the price range to try and recover some of the cost of your add-ons, it may take longer to sell, but with some luck you can find a potential buyer that was going to buy the same upgrades anyway and the truck becomes worth more to them. I figure I lost about $1000 on the price plus about $4500 in upgrades selling my truck... ~$7000 isn't too bad for 70K miles! Especially since the transmission was toast and I was about to spend $5000 on it. I plan to keep the new 3G until the wheels fall off, so in the long run I think my cost of ownership will be reasonable and I'll have better brakes and 4 more inches in the cab that I'll appreciate for the next 10+ years...

As for the 6-speed being the only option for those that tow heavy, I would disagree and say it's the CHEAPEST option. Granted, it costs a lot of money to upgrade the auto, but with the right mods it's just as strong as the manual and a whole lot less of a workout in traffic... not to mention faster in those situations when a shift is required (passing uphill with a heavy load in a short passing lane). But that's why there's both... to each his own. :)
