Truck... . 1991 Intercooled 4x4 with 306 K, 5 speed, regular cab. Truck needs hood, grill, right front fender, Passenger door, and bed.

Mechanically it needs an alternator, powersteering pump, and possibly grid heaters. New parts as brakes, rotors and clutch. Tires are in good shape. All for $1600.

Purpose of the truck would be daily driver ( 10-12 K) a year. Not a heavy hauler but something that I would have to restore. ( Like I need something else to do ).

Is it worth the $ ? Is the truck worth it with over 300K on it.

As far as what its worth, I wouldn't pay more then $1000 for it, if you could get it that cheep. Then I'd find a nice gasser truck and swap drive trains or body's to get a nice truck. There's a nice 90's extended cab short bed 1/2 ton running around here I'm keeping my eyes on. I'd make a nice diesel truck!

I think it is a question of whether you want the project. If you consider what IS there and not what is bent, it is worth more than the asking price but generally a truck that is whacked all around will not being that much. With your labor and another 12 to 15 hundred you will have a good truck. You don't mention your location so prices may be more where you are. I have bought two trucks (1200 each) that are easy worth three thousand parted out. I am not in that business per se and mostly use them to keep mine running. I do from time to time sell a few parts. As Michael mentioned, check the engine good as it could be a problem with those miles. It also has the potential to run another 2 - 3 hundred thousand miles. Old faithful has half a million and it still cranks immediately and will tote the mail any time I call on it.

But I also paid over a thousand for a pair of 4x4 axles that are 3. 07s (just about impossible to find nowdays) so it is for you to decide. Yes it is worth it but perhaps you should be shopping harder or bargaining harder. If it were around home, I would buy it and part it.

Where was that deal when I was looking for one. the best deal I found in michigan was a rusted out, rolled work truck with 270k for $3000. I drove all the way to virginia to find my truck witch was a great deal one owner truck with only rusty wheelwels 240K for $3600. 1600 seems like an awsome deal for just the parts your getting. I wouldnt be too afraid of the miles my dads has 340K on it and would drive it every where. a compression check would be good but I wouldnt pass it up.

I think it all depends on how far it is from you. If it costs you $400 just to get it home I dont think it would be that great of a deal. On the other hand, front Dana 60's are selling for $1000-$1800 out here in Cali. Can you post any pics. of it?
