I saw Governor Ventura on the "Tonight Show" last night. He hinted that he would run for president in '03?.

Jeese Ventura said on the Tonight show:

He's driven his new Porche at 145 mph. He wouldn't say where:D

Cuban cigars are legal and not contraband once they get INTO the US. (not sure if this is true) :D

Personally, I like the man & think he's very conservative. :)

Don't know enough about his political stance - but what I *have* heard, I like!

At any rate, we conservatives could display bumper stickers that read "MY candidate can whip YOUR candidate"... :D

I voted for him for Governor and I would vote for him as President. He likes to joke around but he's pretty smart, is unflappable and has been a good governor for us here in Minnesota. He has the same conservative beliefs I do, believes strongly in personal responsibility for your actions, is against gun control and against welfare if you are able to work. We have had tax rebates every year since he has been in office. The liberals really hate the guy! He debates very well, surprised his opponents in that department.

He's a little immature (so am I) to be president. A term or two in the senate would settle him down and, who knows, he could be a runner for the whitehouse.

BTW, George has been a bit of a disappointment:(Joe

George a bit of a dissapiontment??? I didnt vote for him and Im glad I didnt. I would vote Jesse in a second, he is very smart and he doesnt play games. He tells it like it is! I like that.

I know everyone loves George at least they use to so flame away!:p

What would you expect from a SEAL? Stupid SEALs don't live very long and get other SEALs dead, if there is such an creature as a stupid SEAL! (guntoting, camo-wearing, parachuting, two legged types that is) ;) I find it difficut to believe a less than intelligent person could survive SEAL training in the first place, a little crazy maybe, stupid NOT!

Probably.

Whether you hate him or not. HE IS HONEST. He has nothing to hide or gain by being dishonest. One thing I like is stupid laws don't get past by him.

I would vote for him over a liberal, and maybe even over a spineless Republican. I like his plain talk approach, but he's out there on some issues. Nice thing about him is he "doesn't have time to bleed"

How things change... .

I recall being flamed, shouted down, ignored and generally called silly for saying that neither Gore or Bush was a great choice.

Yet here we are 8 months in, and the guy has taken roughly 2-3 times as much vacation as his Democratic predecessors, and is being called stupid at almost every turn.

I myself said that we needed a better candidate, but if I had to choose between stupid and dangerous, stupid GWB would be my choice.

Since it seems Bush has made (despite what the media would have us believe) a decent choice on funding of stem cell research, he may be less stupid then I originally thought. I fear what Gore would have signed off regarding stem cells.

So maybe NEXT time, a few of you will be willing to vote against BOTH the bozo's provided by the mainstream parties, instead of just shouting down those of us who dare suggests such a "radical/liberal" idea?

Bush is being called "stupid" only by the liberal/democrats and social leaders outside our country who see the gravy train fading into the distance as GW makes it CLEAR that HIS first priority is to OUR US society - and *I* appreciate and agree with his political stance 100%!

He is cautious on the global warming issue for good reason, as conflicting reports from opposing "scientists " are STILL debating what effect human activities actually contribute, compared to those occuring naturally - yet the Kyoto treaty would have hamstrung OUR ability to produce EVEN AS we in the USA were forced to pay HUGE sums for less developed countries to improve THEIR manufacturing processes so THEY could turn around and COMPETE with us!

Dern RIGHT *I* agree with GW, and let the Europeans call him whatever they want, it's about TIME we got someone at the top to start looking out for US, instead of new places to send (WASTE!) our tax dollars!

Opposing parties, a liberal media, and countries attempting to demean the reputation of a US President they dislike because he's a threat to THEIR agenda is nothing new - they did it to Reagan, Ford and Carter as well - and will attempt to roast GW *every* chance they get. But as long as his primary platform is reduction in the size and intrusion of government, and reduction in taxes, as well as "America and Americans FIRST", he will get MY vote!;) :D

And ANOTHER thing, the MORE I see the media and GW bashers whine, pout and cry, the BETTER I LIKE it, because it's clear proof to me that he's doing a GREAT JOB on all the issues *I* am most concerned about!:p ;) :D

It amazes me how many of you call George W Bush stupid. How many of you have met the man? Very few people can look smart when ambushed. Most of the heat that the President has taken is from the Democrats who work real hard at making Americans believe there president is stupid…. How is that American?? Beat the guy up for policy or some bill he signbed into law or veto’ed but show how smart you are by looking at him on record and his actions. Al Gore had his chance to be his own man when Clinton was getting his cigars waxed in the oval office…. he failed to stand up and say this is wrong... real wrong and as such he lost. George W Bush has done every thing he said he would so what’s the problem…. . are you such sheep that you fail to see the real wolf? As for Jessie Ventura…. gotta say the man says what he feels and that is real refreshing! Seems to be a truthful man in a sea of liars.

So you all hate tax cuts? Want the Government to tell you what to do or not to do... . thats the real dark side. I've spend 22 years defending our country as a US Marine and I know that freedom isn't free. Dem's love the law to regulate read take freedoms!

And there have been others in our most recent past who have run our country into the ground, destroying the military, taxing US to death, spending OUR money and worse getting our young fighting men and women killed and maimed in futile efforts to make other folks quit bickering/killing one another, etc. , etc. , etc. ,

Thumbs Up to Gary and CG for most excellent posts!

Below is an excerpt from the Q&A section of http://flattax.house.gov. Lots of thought provoking ideas. Worth looking at.

Is a national sales tax a better idea than a flat tax?

No, the flat tax is a much better alternative to a national sales tax. The sales tax option has two fundamental flaws. First, because it is entirely unrealistic to expect that two-thirds of the House and Senate and three-quarters of the states would vote to repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution (which authorizes the income tax), by creating a sales tax Congress would, in effect, give itself a new taxing authority without eliminating the old one. This is a taxpayer's worst nightmare. Nothing would be worse for taxpayers than to have a federal income tax and a federal sales tax.

Second, a sales tax is hidden and easy for politicians to raise. Over the past few decades, there have been a number of significant taxpayer mobilizations against high income and property taxes that led to tax cuts, but there were no similar taxpayer revolts against sales taxes. No one knows what they pay in sales taxes, so there is less resistance to raising them. The fact is, sales taxes are less visible than other taxes which require taxpayers to either write a check to the government or at least make an accounting with the government at the end of the year. Also, almost every sales tax that has been implemented in the industrialized world has evolved into a European-style value-added tax (VAT), which is the most hidden tax of all.

To keep this post on topic... Yea, I would vote for Mr. Ventura.

No way,no how. He's a Democrat. The fewer Democrats in control the less I have to worry about my rights to own a gun, drive a diesel, ride my quad off road, drive my 4X4 on forestry roads, allowed to hunt, give more rights to criminals in jail than our people defending the country have, close off the beaches to surfing because of the Hollywood p***ks don't want people near their property, and finally having to put a license plate on the front of my hot rod. Thats just a few. How anyone can vote for a Democrat is beyond me. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
