WOW!!! Audi R10 Perfect Season!!!

Man, what a machine!! Not only was the Audi R10 undefeated but it was undefeated in its debut season and its a honkin' V12 diesel!!! A triple play man!! What's funny though is that the commentator types really don't seem to know what to think of it. They poke fun at how quiet it is but don't seem to acknowledge the obvious-------that the gassers are gettin' spanked! Impressive machine for sure.

It will be interesting next year when Peugeot adopts diesel power.



I wanted to go see these diesel beasts at Lime Rock, CT but they just brought last year's R8. Maybe next year. You can be that I'll be wearing my R10 T-shirt... and my Cummins hat!

This was achieved in spite of rule changes in mid-season that allowed the gas-powered prototypes (LMP1) to run with 65 kilograms less weight than the R10 TDIs ( http://www.americanlemans.com/news/Article.aspx?ID=2647 ).



Apparently, weights will be the same for the 2007 season; the diesel prototypes will have fuel capacity reduced by 10% ( http://www.americanlemans.com/News/Article.aspx?ID=2680 ).

OOPS! Someone came up with a better idea. Change the rules to make it fair! If the Audis continue winning, they'll have to stop for mandatory pit stops for a certain amount of time, just to make it fair.

I hope it doesn't turn out like the Mazda/Lola rotary from some years ago. They just outright banned it I remember correctly.
