I finally got my new lift pump put in today. I used the take the front tire off method and reach thru the fender well. That worked great doing it that way. After getting the new one on, my idle went from 650 to 765. Wow what a difference it made it in running. Then we decided to work on my pump a little. I turned the power screw 2 1/2 turns. The lock collar is still on and I have not bottomed it out yet. MAN, I thought my truck run strong before and it smoked. WOW, does it run like a different beast now. And let's not forget the smoke factor now. I can be going 55 mph now and tep down on it and it takes off. Before it would just slowly accelerate, now you step and your gone. My temps are only 1050 if I really stand on it. Before I could only get 22 pounds of boost if I was pulling a loaded trailer. Now I can hit 22 pounds empty. Now I just can;t wait to get my HX-35 on and my Pod's in.

New Lift Pump

I was advised per the local injection pump shop to replace my high mileage lift pump because I'm searching for more HP.

It all makes sense to me!

For what it cost around $70. 00 and the obvious gain I received from it, it was money well spent. Not to mention the peace of mind that the VE is getting plenty of fuel now and is being cooled properly.

Did you check the pump pressure before and after the change? This may be a way to tell if someone has a bad pump. Darn, I thought the pump problems were mostly on the newer trucks!

I wouldn't refer to it as a problem. Simply wear/tear. Ya got to expect somewhere along the line the old lift pump has to get tired. It's a good thing they never really quit,,,like my ISB's do. Just up and die so they do.

Hey guys, now may be a good time interject some news here. There is a fuel injection shop in western Ohio that is selling a kit to install on vehicles equipped with the ISB. A pressure switch, fittings, wire harness of sorts, and warning light. This will alert the driver of lift pump failure. Alert your friends who own one of these. I should probably post this info over on the 24valve forum too.

No,,,I don't think WE need one of these.

These posts are getting far to serious. Maybe someone needs to start a "Good Joke" post:D
