Brake controller needed

Suggestions on electrical gremlin??

I Know the guy who invented it here in AZ. He has a "diesel performance" shop called McClain diesel that did work for me waaaay back in the day. I will say that I WAS RIPED OFF by this guy, be careful B4 ordering somthing that cost $6500. 00 from him. BTW, the hitch buddy makes your 5th wheel have front wheels, I could only imagine what would happen if you had a break away..... It would be ugly.

I like the 'millons of miles of testing' claim, anybody ever seen one of these on the road????

I'll leave my 5er coupled to my companion hitch and be happy I have it!!!!!:D

Well, if the USAF is using it, then there has to be something to it. They are EXTREMELY (read anal) safety conscious. Having said that, I would like to know just how many units the USAF is using.

I'd hate to have to back it up very far!!

It appears that the unit is mounted to the vehicle much like a 2 point tractor hitch, so the unit is somewhat semi-rigidly mounted to the vehicle, more or less eliminating turning movement. Backing it would be like backing a TT.

I would say... 1 unit :-laf

I have never seen or heard of those things and I've been in the AF for 6 years.

It would make much more sense to just grab a tractor and use that. N

Maybe they could make one of those to connect a TT to your 5th wheel hitch. No wait, that would be stupid

Would it? What if you hauled RV's for a living? Take a $6500 dollar investment and DOUBLE your bottom line. Same miles. Same MPGs, same slipstream. NO extra weight in the bed of your pick up. Everybody in the RV Transport industry cries at all the bobtail miles (deadhead). This would virtually ELIMINATE any deadhead mile cost. Do the math and look at the final figure for a 100,000 mile 'year' and do it at $3. 00 a gallon worst case scenario.

Not so stupid now , is it?

Throttlejocky,

I'm not going to take you seriously on this one :) I have a 5th wheel hitch in my bed. If I want to haul a TT, I'll just slip my weight distributing hitch into my class V receiver and call it good.

Explain that, please. How does it eliminate deadheading? I just ain't gettin' it.

That's not what I said. I said deadhead mile COST.

Let's do some math. There are a couple of problems one would need to work out, but let's say you could do 3000 miles miles a week and legally log it. XYZ RV will give you $1. 40 a mile for a single unit to a dealership, let's say 1500 miles away. Your'e going to pull TWO units. That's $2. 80 a mile ONE WAY. Total log book travel mileage will be 3000 miles. 1500 to the drop, then 1500 home. (Say for sake of conversation you live near the RV manufacturer)

Fuel loaded will be 10 MPG and empty 16 MPG. You will avg. 13 MPG for the whole trip.

Fuel cost wil be 231 gallons @ $3. 00 for $693. 00. Your'e going to earn $4200. 00. Minus fuel that's $3507. 00 or $1. 16 a mile for ALL miles you drove.

me neither, which is cheaper/more handy a in bed 5th wheel hitch or that contraption that you can't take with you if you are towing a trailer, lets say you are hauling a fiver and have a tt for a back haul, what ya going to do with the buddy? or the other way around moving a tt and have a fiver to bring back, how ya going to get the buddy to where you need it. the only good i can see of that thing is being able to drag it behind a suburban/excursion and haul lotsa people

Explain that, please. How does it eliminate deadheading? I just ain't gettin' it.

I'm dead serious. UPS and Fed Ex do it all the time. The Hitch Buddy is simply a converter dolly that turns a fifth wheel trailer into a dog trailer. It's called pulling a 'Double'. Tractor (Power unit) middle trailer, rear trailer.

But as for not taking me seriously, duly noted.
