Just installed my HTT quick Diesel 64/14, Smarty, And upgraded my comp to a drag. The power is amazing and is smooth as silk. With the stock turbo the engine sounded like it was going to explote at WOT but now it it's smoothOo. ... Thanks Garret at www.puredieselpower.com

Can't wait to get it to the track... anybody have a guess at a 1/4 time with the mods in my sig and a 6-speed transmission with 4. 10 gears???

Sounds good, I have close to the same mod's and wanted to know how you liked the 64/14? What rpm does it start spooling and how are your EGT's? How does it tow? Also what setings are you runnin the comp and smarty at?

Sorry for all the questions but I've been trying to decide on a turbo for a while!!! Thanks

BlackCloud,
I love the QD 64/14. I just installed it this weekend so i havnt had a chance to fully "test" it but this is what ive found so far. The power is amazing, i didnt take notice to exactly when it spooled but i think it is just a few hundred rpm's later then stock. I thought it might be laggy because on HTT's site it is listed as one of their competition turbos however i feel it has better manners than my stocker did with my current mods. I dont feel like I have lost any driveability at all with this turbo. I dont have an EGT gauge but my water meth has a read out and it is significantly lower than with the stock turbo. As far as towing i dont know, I hardly ever tow however the power is so smooth I wouldnt hesitate to tow and im sure it would be a pleasurable experience. As far as with the comp and smarty... with smarty off and comp on 1 it feels like stocker did with comp on 5... at least to me. With comp on 5 it feels faster but not significantly. With smarty and comp at full tilt its like a freight train... very impressive. I didnt notice a smarty in your signiture but if you dont have one it GREATLY imporves the fun of this turbo. With smarty controlling down low and the drag comp extending the power band into the redline the truck pulls HARD well into/above 3000 rpms. It sounds like your truck is alot like mine so I wouldnt hesitate saying theres no way you will be dissapointed with this turbo but if your still up in the air email htt with your mods and what you want your truck to do and they will point you in the right direction... they really know their stuff (this is what I did). If you decide on one of their turbos give Garrett at www.puredieselpower.com a call and tell him Alex sent you and he'll hook you up with the right stuff.

I hope this helps, if i missed anything dont hesitate to ask, i Know i was stressing over which turbo to buy when i decided and this site helped me make a decision so i will gladly share my experiences.

Thanks... . I have also purchased some items from Garrett and he was helpful, I do have a smarty in my future but wanted to get the turbo first then add the smarty, my egt's are off the charts right now so I did not want to add more power yet... I talked to HTT and they have the new stainless QD 64/14 out in a couple weeks... supposed to a little more efficient with SS housing and spool 200 rpms sooner than as compared to reg. 64/14... . but with a price of course... so I'm considering getting one or the other... seems your happy with reg. 64/14... . decisions. decisions... lol!

I know what you mean about the truck sounding as if its gonna blow the pistons through the hood... with stock turbo and comp on 5x5 I can hit 48 psi of boost which is really bad, anything over 36 psi and your blown'in hot air. Truck sounds like a jet that sucked a bird through the turbine! If I get SS 64/14 I'll keep you posted.
