1973 Dodge D800 549 cid? What should I expect???

How about this type of sleeper bunk??

Wow
Driving a 392 Wrangler could be scary. Mine has a 3.6L 285HP tuned to around 300HP, and it moves pretty good. Be cool to see one and hear it. Bet it pricey.

Glad FCA is being competitive and has a great High Performance lineup.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers, Ron

I sent the video link to my brother-in-law. He is exactly the type of person who would go for a Wrangler like that. He was just telling me the other day that he was considering trading in his Challenger for another Jeep. He gave his previous Rubicon to my nephew when he purchased the Challenger.

I had a friend in the 80s who had a V8 in his CJ... had headers with exhaust out the sides. Loud, proud, and very offroad capable.

The old 258 in line 6, AKA 4.0L to the younger crowd, was very capable nice TQ on the low end. EFI really refined tha motor.

Just a little look into the past.

Cheers, Ron

The 4.0 is a 242 cu in motor, thou I can’t recall people referencing it that way.

The AMC 4.2L is the 258, and yes that one was commonly called the AMC 258.

My brother-in-law had 2 different 1995 Wranglers with the 4 cyl (2.5L maybe?). The 1st one was a 5-speed. It was destroyed by a drunk driver. The second was an automatic.

They were surprisingly nice to drive, even with limited power. I really loved how simple they were back then.

Thanks for the help... I'm not a Jeep head, but do like them. Is it the same block with a different bore?

Mine is what is affectionately called a Mall Crawler, never been 4wheeled. In fact at one time I was tempted to put lettering on my roof rack Maul Krawler.

I’m not a big Jeep knowledge guy either, but my understanding is that the blocks are the same. The 4.0 has a slightly smaller bore and shorter stroke, and a different head.

My folks had an early 80's Wagoneer with the 4.2. I remember going across the state of Wyoming many many times in that ol girl to Boulder/Pinedale area where it would spend days at a time locked in 4wheel drive scouting the River bottom for moose. The trans gave them a few problems but the rest of it was a good durable drivetrain.

You can see the fleet in my signature, and to be honest, my Jeep is my favorite vehicle as a daily driver. Short wheelbase, uturns, small parking spaces, and the 3.6L is peppy.

Mind posting a pic of yours?

I’ll have to find one. Don’t take too many of it.

Should have gotten one yesterday when I was out for a trail run (actual run, not 4wd run). Got to use 4wd for a bit thou, nothing crazy. Sure do low the low end grunt of an I6.

Just prior to COVID, I modified a 5.5ft x 10ft utility trailer to be a beach, river, lake etc BBQ picnic trailer, but haven't used it for that yet. Found a Dexter axle flip kit on Ebay that raises it about 4", but going to flip it back. The utility trailer lost some of its utility, making ramp too steep and high centering the zero turn mower on it. I know I can add ramps to get onto the ramps, and may play with that some, but then it loses some of the utility.

Sorry for hijacking, but thought it's a Jeep thread and more will come on the 392 Wrangler later on anyhoo.

It's more akin to a tractor than a Jeep but here's my wheeler

Dad bought it when I was in my teenage years and I inherited it a few years ago. It was the first vehicle I ever drove on public roads. The same year he bought it we were clearing land on some property he bought and cut into his thigh with a chainsaw. By the time I got him up to the LC he had lost so much blood he was really falling in and out of it. I ended up driving him straight to the ER about 15 miles away. I'll never forget the look on the nurses face that was standing outside smoking when we pulled up in the LC, dad bleeding out in the passenger seat and me a 13 or 14 year old wide eyed kid in the driver's seat. Great memories! :D
