I just returned form a 6 week trip and was doing some maintenance on my trailer and noticed what looked like a lot of wear on the inside of a tire. This usually calls for some axle straightening so since I was in the shop where they do this I had them take a look at it. The alignment was checked out and found to be right in spec. A closer look at the tire revealed a lot of distortion and unusual wear patterns. It looks like the tire is separating or breaking up in the carcass. I am fortunate to have found this before the whole damn thing let loose and did a lot of damage. The tire is a Good Year Wrangler HT size 235-85R/16 E. I searched previous threads and there seems to be a lot of Good Year tire problems on trailers. I would like to know if the ones of you that have had a problems with tires, was it with this exact tire? The other 3 tires seem to be okay but I am wondering if they will be failing soon. I would also like to know if any of you have had much satisfaction from Good Year in standing behind their tires. The local tire store did an adjustment but I feel like I got a bit of a honing. I would also recommend that any of you that have these tires keep a close eye on them to prevent a lot of damage to your unit. After doing a brief search I am inclined to go to a Michelin trailer tire. I am also interested in any trailer tires that you are getting good results from. I also went on the Good Year site and the HT's are one of their recommended tires for a 5th. wheel.
