I just got my Jacobs E-brake that I ordered Friday from Mechanicsville Dodge. I told the guy 96 Dodge about three times in the phone but I noticed the instructions say 98. 5-2001, uh this is bad right? I know I have to get heavy duty springs but is this kit installable in my 96? Or do I have to send this thing back tomorrow? Thanks guys

I think you can use it if as you say about the springs and you use the switch on the foot activated excelorator mount. I would call them back just to check or at www.pacbrake.com Ron in LOUISVILLE KYOo.

Call or email Mopar4less about the part number. They are usually pretty good. For some reason I was thinking that the newer E-Brakes were different than the older ones, but I might be wrong. When I got mine for a 2001, mine specifically said for 98. 5 to 2000 (turns out it is the same for 2001). What it didn't say was what the difference was from the earlier E-Brakes.

Another option would be to call Cummins. Although the part numbers are different, they are physically the same parts. See if they can tell you what the difference is.

I called Mechanicsville back this morning and they said that I probably won't be able to use it and that they did not have a # for 98 and earlier models so I'm going to try Mopar4less and see what comes up. Thanks for the advice guys.

FYI

When calling Mopar4less.com, be sure and tell them it is an internet order or you will get charged the regular price.

I think you have the wrong one

The Cummins part number for the one you need is (or was 5 years ago) 3804848.
