I'm fairly certain I already know the answer to this, but would like to have one of you guru's confirm it. If the lever is not adjusted correctly, what are some of the symptoms? Example lower boost, lower top end rpms, etc. I have a #5 plate 2/3 forward, AFC full forward, and 3K GSK. My boost is less than 30Lbs. and I can't achieve over 2400 RPM's at WOT. I did adjust the lever once so that the tip of the lever was even with the plate tip, but perhaps it is a little higher than it should. If this is the case, would I experience the issue I've described? I've done the following: checked for air leaks, new overflow valve, lift pump, and new return and supply hoses. Thanks

From talking with Piers and Al, I believe if the rocker arm is a little above the tip, you're OK. There is a little room for variation so that shouldn't be a problem. I don't think it would produce the results your experiencing.

I've heard that if the arm is below the tip, it will hang up a little bit as it tries to ride up the plate. Then it will suddenly break up over the tip with the result being a sudden kick-in-the-butt power surge.

I'm wondering if yours is below the tip and is getting hung up more solidly and just not riding the plate contours.

Did you check it with the shut-off solenoid in the up position? I know it makes a difference and should be adjusted in the up/on position.

Thanks for the ideas. I did adjust it with the solenoid in the run position. I'm wondering if the governor springs aren't set right if this could occur. I do know the idle speed is effected by spring adjustment and the idle speed is fine. As usual, it's probably some minor little thing thats out of whack. I read once that these pumps are very sensitive when it comes to adjustments and tolerances. Now I just need to find out what it is.
