What are the possible issues from flashing a diesel TPMM with the wrong software update?

There could be lots of issues considering all the different things the TIPM controls.

I don't think that will happen. It might do some of the BCM flashes but not any engine control pieces. The BCM flashes should be the same but there is always a chance of differences.

I thought the TIPM just required a "reset", 30-45 minutes key-on-engine-off, not a flash.

It won't control the engine, but what about fuel heater, fuel pump, etc??

If it had a fuse in 2005 it is controlled by the TIPM for 2006+, isn't it?

The TIPM does have software and can be flashed. The starter fault TSB is one reflash that comes to mind.
