since the first day i had a steering problem, went back to the dealer 6 + times and they told me notings wrong, and one time they did replace the gear box, but now with 60k on it it just got worse. Went to a very good truck shop in my area that deals with semi trucks and specilizesin front ends, he tells me i have a world of problems under there, upper and lower ball joints on both sides bad, left side tie rod bad and the drag link is shot, tells me to find out if dodge would cover it, my dealer sad no, so i give him the ok to do the work, and he calls me back today all flusterd telling me in the 22 years of him doing front end work never once had a truck give him this much trouble. he says he cant get th spindles off they wont move and apoligizes to me and says he cant do it thetruck has to go back to the dealer, and that no way all of these things should have gone bad all at once, unless i had a prolonged problem, and on a 01 at 60k! any input , im really upset over this and i dont know which way to turn. i really love this truck but its pissin me off.

I feel your pain. My front end is in bad shape too. However the last place I would take it is to the dealer. They have already told you that nothing is wrong. :(

don't feel bad. My 97 had to have wheel bearings and ball joints ( so bad it failed state inspection) between 50 and 60,000. I think it is normal. Like when Ford put pinto wheel bearing in the front of Lincolns and Grand Maquis in the late 70's/early 80's and they would last 20,000. Why?????????

Perhaps it's time for you to try a different dealer. Some are more responsive to customer's problems than others.

Just my . 02... Good Luck

Louie, They will come apart. It can take a lot of beating to get them off. We did a members truck last year. It took us several hours to get the spindle off. A lot of patience. Good luck. Jeff
