Ford Recalls 260,000 vehicles

I heard somewhere on the radio (wasnt the big 3 news, so it has a snowball's chance of being true) that the $60+ oil is the FUTURES CONTRACT price, not the actual price of oil coming into the country today, which was somewhere in the mid $40s at the time. They are talking about $90 FUTURES contracts for Dec now. We may not see $2 fuel again. Menawhile, the media is making a big deal out of the oil prices, and failing to mention the ACTUAL price of oil vs futures. Crises get ratings, and that is all they care about any more.

And the environmentalists are just as guilty as the media- they havent allowed any new refineries to be built in 30+ years- mating habits of mosquitoes may get disturbed. Add to that, runaway power from the EPA, and special blends of fuel by region (cant ship from CA to MN), and you get a bottleneck, and higher pump prices. I wont sell my CTD, but if it goes up much more, I may buy a VW TDi. I live too far from work, and it is too hot now to bike.

I'll try to look up that report the guy on the radio was mentioning.

Go to the Flying J website and compare fuel prices in the various states and you will quickly see that prices vary significantly between states. The difference in fuel prices is due to the tax rate in your state. Maybe you guys with high diesel fuel prices should consider who you are electing to your state legislatures and governor's mansions.

It's $2. 57 at one of the local stations in my neck of the woods, $2. 49 at another. I was in Winchester, VA two days ago and got diesel for $2. 26 at Flying J with my penny discount. Getting 70 gal. made a difference of $22 and $16! The state tax in WV is ten cents higher than VA. Would it be worth it to drive the 90 miles one way to get fuel? Maybe not, but I was going there anyway for other things.

if diesel goes much higher i will have to trade in ctd for a powerwagon that gets about 10 miles to the gallon. what we have to include in our fuel costs also is our diesel additives. do to the lubricating properties in our fuel getting lower and lower we have to use more additives (ie stenadyne, lucas). for every 5 tanks i run lucas fuel additive for 3 tanks. the lucas container is enough for those 3 tanks at 1/3 a bottle per tank. now when we go to ulsd in june 2006 how much additive will i have to use to keep my fuel mileage decent and my injectors clean? at 7 dollars and change per bottle i am spending alot of money on fuel usage.
