wvo heating in the truck

what would be wrong with using exaust gas to heat the wvo tank. I was thinking somthing like a wast gate set up for temp down stream . heat would be produced as soon as you started the engine. I know the temp would have to be controled or over heating could be a big problem.

If you're burning WVO, you want the engine to be up to operating temperature before you switch over, so there's nothing to gain by heating the VO up faster. Once the engine is warm, a proper setup will also have the VO good and warm. We experimented with using the exhaust to heat VO up on one of the buses a number of years ago, and found that the exhaust temperature varies too much (just watch your pyro), and the heat transfer from air to liquid is not nearly as effective as the heat transfer from one liquid to another.
