Where to find B50 or B100

Newbie could use some help with WVO conversion info

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on a good mixing ratio for wvo to Jet-B mix,,,I am currently running 50/50 unheated in my dually with no issues... but i hate to waste to much Jet-B,,i get it real cheap from a jet engine mechanic i know,,. .

I'm considering adding heat to my secondary tank to able me to run later into the winter without thick fuel issues... . anuone have any idea on how much heat i would need,,???

I realize the straight oil guys heat to 180 degrees,,,but what would 50/50 need??

Thanks...

Interesting. Never heard of blending with jet b. You might want to post this on some of the biodiesel forums.

jet b

Hello

Jet B is a distillate covering the naphtha and kerosine fractions. It can be used as an alternative to Jet A-1 but because it is more difficult to handle (higher flammability), there is only significant demand in very cold climates where its better cold weather performance is important.

Here is the msds sheet on Jet B

http://www.intox.org/databank/documents/chemical/jetfuel/cie612.htm

looking at this I would run up to 20% jet b maybe 50% in the winter time when temp is under 32 degs all the time it should keep the veg oil from jelling.

just my two cents worth

Thanks for the responses. .

I had been doing 50/50 with the jet-b,,wvo,,

But i will try 50% wvo,,25% diesel,,25%jet-b. .

I always add about 1 galon of unleaded gas to about 30 gallons of mixed fuel,,is this a good idea,,or is my jet-b enough to give me extra btu's??

Thanks

I may not have this correct, but I believe jet b is the equivalent of military JP-4. And as I recall, JP-4 is 60% kerosene and 40% AVGAS, plus additives. That's why it's so damn explosive. I wouldn't think that that much gas would be very healthy for a diesel engine.

I checked with some people today,,ans they say,,no avgas in jet-b,,just highly refined diesel like kerosene,,,

I doubt the local jet helicopters would use military fuel,,,i can't imagine how expensive that stuff might be,,,

I appreciate everyone giving advice on this. .
