I didn't go, I went to Denver Automotive and Diesel in Denver, CO because I didn't wanna move to Larmie, WY. However I had two high school buddies go and they both had good things to say about it.

Its considered one of the top notch schools in that field. If you decide to go there good luck and enjoy yourself.

Theres lots of job options while going to school and after school. I jsut happened to get a job at CAT while going to school, only reason I left it was to take my current job with Union Pacific.

When I said it was considered a top notch school I meant in regards to the diesel side of things, I don't know much about their gasser programs. Even if your going for diesel you'll be required to take some of the automotive courses as well.

Being a Wyoming native I have heard from many about the school and all I have heard is nothing but positive... . Kevin:)

Here is a school a little closer to you: www.linnstate.edu

Check Em Out!

I just finished my 5 semesters and it is a very good school.

They have a really high placement rate also.

They have a medium/heavy truck, heavy equipment, and a Caterpillar dealer service tech. programs.

Its in a small town called Linn Missouri which is about 25 miles south east of Jefferson City.

Plus the recruter is good looking!!:--)

Just thought I would give you another option.

thanks byi, but i want to stay in Maine or New Hampshire. The only thing is that Wyotech is the best -as most people say- and it's only a year long (then i'll come back to Maine afterwards). Local- Northern Maine Technical College and Eastern MTC- are ok i guess... . nothing special. I hope to open my own shop up like piers, mass diesel, black mountain diesel, etc. in the future so..... is it really worth going there? Sure, for a job right after college, but... ..... well... ..... we'll see how things go.

98rammer

I'm in Laramie and I know a couple of the big wigs at the Tech. The school is expanding way big time. They are putting a branch in PA somewhere and I think west coast too. Their diesel school is top notch and their hotrod program is also very popular. Laramie is great if you ask me. Anyway, if you come out for a visit PM me or something and I'll show ya around. Good luck! If you run across any more specific questions after your meeting with the represenative let me know and I will get you in touch with the right person.

As a side note, I spoke breifly with one of the Admins at Tech and asked about a big RMTDR event at the school (lots of room and I bet lots of people showing interest) and they were pretty interested. We'll see what more I find out.

GiesJ, we'll either take a 4 day weekend and drive out or maybe fly. I'll give you a holler whenever that happens. Yeah, there's one in PA, but there aren't any diesel classes at that one:(

Go to WhoTech

I have a good friend on mine that went there (diesel tech) and then took the chassis building class. He had a job when he graduated and said everything was very hands and the instructors where top notch.

well, my mom follwed me down to my dad's here and we had a meeting with a representative. everything went well; i learn a heck of a lot. so... . i will be going to Wyotech after next year for 6mo. diesel, and then the 3mo. business application thing. :D overall, it looks like it's going to be a great time! hopefully the senior year will fly by fast...

98rammer,

I went there last year and took the Diesel course and the Applied Service Managment course and had a good time. it's just like the real world because you go to school 40 hours a week from 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. In the diesel course you have some homework and a lot in the business course:{ but it is well worth it.

1 week after graduation I started working as a Diesel Mechanic for Schlumberger Technologies Corp. Oilfield Division.

If you have any questions at all PM me.

MMclain, alright thanks. yeah, i'm just about guaranteed a job from Cummins northeast as it is so i'm happy with that. just can't wait to go...
