I started having a problem with my x monitor. I was sitting in line at the local drive through put the trans in park and my pyro shot to over 2000 degrees, the tst was set at 4-4 so I set it to 0 and no change so I knew it wasent the box. The wierd thing was as soon as I put the trans in drive the temps went back down to normal. I have also been having trouble with the trans temp reading over 300 sometimes while towing. I think my x monitor needs reflashing. Has anyone had this happen to them, please help.

Thanks, Mike

"Man I sure am glad I didnt buy one of those things" LMAO!

Try crimping the connectors where they plug into the box under the dash. Mine did they same thing until I made sure the connectors were on there tight. Actually, I like mine a lot better than stupid analog dials. I check mine each day for min /max readings. Kinda nice being able to see what you are hitting without driving cross eyed trying to watch dials. That or you can call BD and have them tell you to make sure the thing is grounded good.

Well true but i've never had that problem with my guages... . What does it matter if you can check and see what your max egts were that day. . If you run it hard your eye  should be on the guage eitherways analog or xmonitor... The BD has to much electronics too much can go wrong..... Maybe im wrong maybe that thing kicks butt, but 275$ vs 426$ ill keep my analogs.....

Nah, I romp on it a half dozen times a day for a few seconds. Things are happening way too quick to be peeking at gauges :) I really don't care how hi/low EGTs, boost, or FP it goes for that small amount of time, one run at a time. If you're pullin a long grade then yeah I watch but I don't use the hi/low logging for that.

I'm sure many typewriter manufactures said the same when personal computers came out ;) Too each his own but I dig my x-monitor. Now why they didn't do them with LCD vs LED is beyond me. That is cheesy! That technology went out 30 years ago with the Texas Instruments calculator I had in 5th grade!

read my threads not happy with x monitor and pyro say it isn't so- buying the x-monitor was the worst mistake i ever made. ps- tech support at bd told me there was no such thing as reflashing--they just replaced the monitor and the control box . that cured my trans temp problem and appears to have caused my pyro problems . i am at that point in ripping it out and starting all over

As to why the instructions suggest to install post-turbo I don't know but what is even more confounding is that you followed them lol. Sorry bout your luck.

X-Monitor

So far I like mine, I really like the location on the A-piller,does not obstruct my view. Only real problem I've had was a couple times it would zero out. May have been a grounding problem or small glitch. Has not done it for a long time now. Other than that sometimes in bright sunlight kinda hard to see the screen while wearing dark sun glasses, but I just knod my head back alittle an I see it fine then. Pretty cool looking at night though. Over all I like the X.

I have previously posted several times about trans temp problems I had on my X-monitor. It is fixed now but I have sent it back to the factory twice for re-flashes. The folks at BD are always very nice, but it was a hassle to send it back twice. It works great now and I am pleased at present.

luke, not being mechanically creative i tend to follow instructions. also on several threads ,it was mentioned that the x-monitor pyro probe was very long leading to some difficulty in the proper location when installed in the manifold
